I gotta admit this is the best of the new wave batman films so far.
The joker
Heath ledger: He played this joker with a more cruel streak but with some of humor thrown in a long the way. This joker did a lot of philosophe but it was all due to the cool way ledger did the dialogue. He seemed like the rebel without the cause, bored, and just having fun with the world. I know many people will come to enjoy and miss this newest joker.
The Batman
Christian Bale: Played his part as a customed up vigilante but didnt really do much else. He just seemed to be there to have an opposite for the Joker and Harvey Dent. Why didnt they just name this film "Gotham" or something else. To me the bat was a role character to tie up those loose ends.
Bruce Wayne
Christian Bale: Bale's portrait of bruce wayne was also very different. He seemed to be a playboy billionare compared to that mysterious rich guy role Micheal keaton portraited. Wayne also at times seemed to be just there and filling a reserved role. Unlike Micheal keatons portrayal of Wayne, Bale took some direct action of trying to be a hero.
Harvey Dent/Two-face
Aaron Eckhart: He really added some new dimensions to this series. Showing that a man in a mask doesnt always make a different. Dent was never really explored much in the batman films but i think this film may have gave him a few new followers. And to his ego of that of, Two-face. This Two-face was much more enjoyable to watch. He wasnt a physical brute like tommy lee jones tried to portait. More of a solemn type like the batman who was just trying to show his own way of justice. So i thank Mr Eckhart for his role in this film.
Just a few other tidbits. I really wished they would of found some one different to play rachel. Damn that actress really looked homely and old without the right lighting to help. I think they could of did much better.
Micheal caine and Morgan freeman did thier parts soundly and without a critical complaint. So now that the batman franchise has changed itself with this film. I wonder to what new directions they will take and what new villians they will showcase. Who will test thier hand at the jokers role. I know they can do another film with the profits they have reaped at the box office. It will only be a matter of when.
