By return I mean their return to a faster, meaner, heavier style of metal. I've heard a few songs off of St. Anger and I have to say I'm anticipating it's debut. I'm impressed that they could actually get a hint of old Metallica back. I saw some screen shots from the St. Anger video that they made and it looks pretty cool. So with the sudden turn around of Metallica is anybody else hyped for St. Anger or am I alone on this one?

I remember i actually liked load but then i listened to master of puppets and and justice for all. I really liked those 2 but then hated load cause it was alot lighter. im not like all those other mindless idiots that cry sell-out, they just changed to a lighter sound that's all. I hope what you're saying is true, a heavy metallica is a great metallica.

i saw the St. Anger video, it's pretty good, but to me it's just not the same. i liked them the best with Cliff Burton (RIP)... and Newstead was ok but he was better with Flotsam & Jetsam... i can truthfully say that metallica will never be back to their old selves

I think the album will be great, but I'm no big fan of the title track. The music is good, but the lyrics don't do much for me, and that snare drum sound is distracting from the power of the riffs.

I have to say overall, I feel let down by this album. I can't belive they used that awful snare sound on the whole album. The truth is, I hated Load when it came out, but now I kinda like it. I like it better than the new one. Maybe the album will grow on me, but who knows. I want to like it, but certain things just bother me about it. The music is pretty good, I just get the impression that they are trying to be current and hip, and they should just be loud and proud. That's just my asshole opinion... ;D
