It is impossible to be more than one genre. I'm stupid? Someone call the WHAMBULANCE for this musical dumbfuck. Now you're pissing me off. You're a fucking retard. I never said someone couldn't like more than one genre of music. If they were influenced by death metal, they would be death metal, not fucking hard rock. Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCK UP. YOU KNOW FUCKING. NOTHING. ABOUT METAL MUSIC. How many metal bands have you listened to? Ten? Twenty? Death's later sound is progressive/death metal. Do me a huge fucking favor and listen to Dream Theater. DT are pure progressive. STOP FUCKING CALLING THAT DEATH RIFF MELO-DEATH METAL! If you have to label it something, call it a progressive/death metal riff! Oh my god, are you calling Darkest Hour melo-death? My god, you just totally destroyed any credibility you once had. They're metalcore. PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!Look, stupid, bands can be more than one genre dumbass. I think The Mars Volta are a perfect example. They are progressive rock, post-hardcore, jazz fusion, and latin rock. Now I suppose you could confine their genre to progressive rock, but that wouldn't be a completely accurate description of them. Same thing with other bands. Like Avenged Sevenfold. Their new material is hard rock, their old material was metalcore. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but 1 plus 1....oh yeah, that's 2! That would mean they are two genres overall. To claim that bands can't be influenced by other genres than the one they are is just narrow-minded and idiotic. How would fusion genres like metalcore and jazz-rock and grindcore happen if bands couldn't be influenced by sounds outside their genre? Oh yeah, that's right, they wouldn't happen, because they'd be confining themselves to some gayass formula. Ok, how is that riff not melo-death? And if it isn't, then wouldn't A7X then be progressive death metal or whatever the fuck you called Death? I mean, you can't simultaneously call one riff a rip off of another riff and then claim that the rip off is an entirely different genre. That's just a completely retarded, elitist double standard that reeks of hypocrisy. Ok, fine, why don't you tell me what bands you think are melodic death metal. The only band that I've called melo-death that you haven't pissed yourself over me labeling them as that is At the Gates, so I would assume I'm right about that. And yeah, I'm not a huge metalhead, but I am

I'm stupid? Says the dumbfuck who thinks bands can be more than one genre! My god, are you stupid. Latin rock, progressive rock, and post-hardcore are subgenres of, hey, guess what, ROCK! Rock evolved from genres such as jazz and blues, you dumbass.
Ah, so now you resort to calling me a homosexual because I have knowledge about music.
My god. You are so stupid that I seriously want to fucking use fucking piano wire and choke you. DEATH ARE PROGRESSIVE FUCKING DEATH METAL YOU INBRED FUCKTARD, THE PART OF THEM THAT YOU THINK IS MELO-DEATH IS IN REALITY THE PART THAT IS PROGRESSIVE YOU STUPID JACKASS. You fucking IDIOT. Avenged Shitfold are HARD ROCK. HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK HARD ROCK.
Amon Amarth are melo-death. As for At The Gates, I don't give two shits about them.
That's the thing, you're a metalhead. Metalheads are the idiots.
I'm done with you. I fucking am. I can't deal with your stupidity raping my brain cells anymore. Continue to live in ignorance you inbred.

I think I'm pretty accurate in saying that I don't think you listened to anything I said or got the point of anything I was attempting to say. and I didn't call you gay, I called the formula gay. Learn how to fucking read. basically by your logic, any band can simply be classified as "rock". I mean, metal is a subgenre of rock, right? therefore death metal is a subgenre of rock and any band from 10,000 maniacs to pink floyd ot death to avenged sevenfold can be classified simply as rock. That sounds like a horrible way of classifying things to me. look...I really don't wanna dislike you based on your and my differences in music classification and musical taste. I mean, aside from this conversation, you honestly seem ok to me. so if this argument does indeed continue, I'm not gonna be nearly as aggressive as you or I have been, regardless of how many times you say I have no musical knowledge and how many times you call me inbred.

I know I said I was done with this thread, but I really need to tell you something: It's not the '70s anymore. Metal USED TO (NOTE THE PAST TENSE) be a subgenre of rock, but it is now its own genre with it's own subgenres. Metal and rock are two completely different genres, and it's been that way for a few decades now. Calling metal a subgenre of rock is like calling rock a subgenre of blues (rock evolved from blues, by the way).
I know how to read, I also know how use words correctly, unlike you. GAY IS NOT AN ADJECTIVE. IT DOES NOT DESCRIBE SOMETHING YOU FIND TO BE STUPID. Gay means very happy or homosexual. Use your words correctly.
I am now done with this thread.

The only thing resembling a consistent list of favorite bands for me is a top 5, and really only the first 4 are consistent.
1. The Mars Volta 2. Pink Floyd 3. Alexisonfire 4. At The Drive-in 5. Led Zeppelin
