I believe in an economy that uses the highest forms of technology to supply people with the necessities of life and also eliminates boring, monotonous jobs, where humans can reach their highest potential without having to be chained at a desk for the majority of their lives and where there is no money and no one is left behind. Instead of using some lawyer's opinion, we use the scientific method to arrive at answers -- not pull them out of nowhere and say "I THINK THIS IS GOOD BECAUSE I SAY SO."

Im not so sure it will work though, but it is a nice idea.

This current system clearly isn't working, so I'd rather try for another system and fail than just sit on my ass and complain about all the injustices in our current system. And if this alternative system does fail, at least we can say we tried it and learn from our mistakes.

Utopia? Those are static. This society isn't established, it's emergent, which means it evolves as people learn and change and as technology advances. Not to mention utopia means different things to different people. There are certainly democratic elements, yes. But instead of people being elected, ideas are. Just think about that for a moment... you vote politicians in not because you think they're nice people, but because you like their ideas. And instead of all of this "he said she said" crap we test out theories, see if they work. If it works and whatever is being tested is found out to be true, we find a solution to that particular problem. Also, democracy in its current form is a load of B.S. If I have a billion dollars I'm going to win against the guy with only two thousand dollars. I can promote myself more. Money = power. The more money you have, the better chance you have of gaining political office. Ever notice how high ranking politicians are rolling in cash?

I know it is different in the states though, it is much more centered to the "leader" and to be a politician you need tons of money.
It is somewhat different here, but I agree that politicians mostly are full of shit.. and it depresses me.
However, you still need people behind the ideas to fulfill them. We have one party you can vote for here (the environmental party), they have two spokespersons for the party instead of a leader. I think that is somewhat better.

Sure, but say you support Party A's xyb policies but hate their abc policies. Then you're kind of screwed if you hate the all other parties' stances. And you still need some degree of money to become a politician. No one is going to elect the homeless guy even if he has some great insight into problems. Hell, why can't I be a spokesperson and present my ideas? I can't, because this system silences me. Besides, the only thing politicians can do is make laws. Laws don't do anything. Laws won't solve a water supply problem in a coastal city. Laws don't stop people from starving to death. But someone with a technical background could build a de-salinzation plant to provide clean freshwater to the coastal city. Technicians can create hydroponic farms in impoverished areas to feed the poor. See what I'm getting at? Technology makes our life great, not politicians and laws.

I never said politicians are great.. But I don't think humans are quite ready yet for cooperating without laws and leaders. I'm afraid they never will be, why? Because there are too many egoists.
Would you like things to be solved on a small or large scale with this system?

The only problems are problems that affect all of humanity. This is a worldwide system. It cannot work unless everyone unifies. If we have one country that's operating on this system and other on the monetary system and the self-supporting society has a valuable resources, the monetary country will most likely attack to get that resource. This system has to be globally integrated. Resources are everywhere. If this doesn't come into place everywhere, the survival of the species is at risk.
Why don't we get rid of what causes the egotiscal behavior in the first place?
And you're right... I do agree. Right now we cannot function in this society without laws and leaders. But as we transition into this new society, we can begin to shed those ways of old. Crime will be drastically reduced. Let's look at some statistics, from the Merva-Fowles Study: A 1% increase in unemployment resulted in: -6.7% increase in homicides -3.4 % increase in violent crimes -2.4 % increase in property crime Which translates into: -1459 additional homicides -62,607 additional violent crimes -223,500 additional property crimes
So if everyone has what they needed, crime would be drastically reduced. When you're walking through a poor area, do you start getting nervous and scared? You're afraid you're going to get attacked, most likely. Why is that? Because the poor are desperate to get what they need and will do anything they can to obtain it. If you're walking through a rich or middle class area, chances are you're more relaxed. The rich and middle class have what they need, so they aren't likely to attack violently to get it.
