Since we've been ripping each other's throats out on various parts of the forum, I figured I'd make a politics thread to centralize the murder. I'll propose a topic in a few days if no one comes up with anything. Edit: In order to keep this thread from descending too much into hell, let's try to be civil here. If you're unsure about what someone is saying, as for clarification. But if you know what that person saying and think s/he is an idiot, rip 'em a new one.

If it's something fact based, then yeah go for it. But if it's down to opinions try to be civil.

China Calls for Global CurrencyLooks to me like China's just trying to save their asses. This is a terrible idea to me. If one country enters into an economic depression, it'll bring the value of the entire planet's currency down, thus making it more expensive to buy what you need.

US has already dragged the world economy down, and we dont use dollars.
In sweden we still have kronor instead of euro, I would prefer having euro, it would be more practical for me.. (I dont need to exchange money everyime I go abroad to various European countries and I dont need to figure out how much things cost there). Also, in the long run I believe the euro is more stable.
Only ONE currency though.. hmmm.. an interesting thought.. but it will not happen for at least the next 500 years.

It's because the U.S. has too much power. Personally I'm in favor of each county in each state having their own currency backed by gold, that way if a county in Florida fails, it won't affect counties in California, NY, etc. I agree that having less diverse types of currency is easier when traveling but that's where my pros for it end. Apparently Russia and the U.S. are pulling for this currency as well. North America is going to enter into the "North American Union" which will eliminate the Canada dollar, U.S. dollar, and Mexican peso. And if you haven't heard of it, here's a video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T74VA3xU0EAIt really does seem we're getting closer to one-world currency, especially with all of these unions.

Oh they didn't even bother asking us. They just went ahead with their plans without asking the people.
I'm not fond of the idea, no. I like having my own country's currency and I'm not too big on open-border policy.

they shouldnt do that
It is an important question so they should have a public voting about it.

Did the EU ask the public what they felt about the idea?
